Recognition: Chief reporter Amelia Murray

Money Mail chief reporter Amelia Murray has been named Personal Finance Journalist of the Year.

Amelia was voted the industry’s top journalist in the British Bank Awards earlier this month.

It is the first time a journalist has been recognised in the banking industry awards, which have been running for seven years.

One voter, who nominated Amelia, said: ‘She is diligent, dogged and determined and has ensured justice for a number of wronged and otherwise powerless people. She persevered for a year on one particularly sad case where a pensioner had his life savings stolen in a scam. The bank initially refused to help — but she ensured that they eventually paid up. She’s a wonderful and kind-hearted person, and really deserves this award.’

Another voter wrote: ‘Tirelessly providing a voice to consumers and a conscience to the industry; everybody wins.’

Amelia joined Money Mail in May 2018 and was promoted to Chief Reporter in July 2019. She specialises in fraud and championing consumer rights.
