AMAZON is set to close 10 locations across the UK as it said it would axe 9,000 jobs in “the next few weeks”.
The e-commerce giant is closing three warehouses, including in Hemel Hempstead, Doncaster and Gourock.

Meanwhile, seven delivery centres are set to close too, including in Birmingham, Newcastle and Portsmouth.
Two new delivery centres are set to open though, in Havant and Aylesford.
The three warehouse and seven delivery centre closures put 1,200 jobs at risk.
It comes as Amazon said it will cut another 9,000 jobs across its global business in “the next few weeks”.
Andy Jassy, chief executive of the technology giant, told staff that the move will reduce jobs in its web services, advertising, PXT solutions division and its Twitch livestreaming arm.
In a letter to staff earlier today, he said: “As we’ve just concluded the second phase of our operating plan this past week, I’m writing to share that we intend to eliminate about 9,000 more positions in the next few weeks – mostly in AWS, PXT, Advertising, and Twitch.
“This was a difficult decision, but one that we think is best for the company long term.
“To those ultimately impacted by these reductions, I want to thank you for the work you have done on behalf of customers and the company.

AWS is Amazon web services, which offers tech support like hosting to other websites.
Twitch is a gaming platform and PTX is Amazon’s internal HR technology.
The company did not say how many UK jobs will be affected.
Amazon employs around 1.5million people globally and more than 50,000 in the UK,
The job cuts come on top of 18,000 the online giant already announced in January.
Amazon isn’t the only company laying off staff this year.
Just last week, Meta, which owns Facebook, revealed plans to cut around 10,000 jobs globally, four months after it axed another 11,000.
Zoom, the video and communications provider, has slashed its workforce by 15%, losing 1,300 staff.
Microsoft which employs 220,000 people worldwide, 6,000 of which are in the UK, will cut thousands of jobs by September.
Car giant Ford has said it is cutting around 3,800 jobs across Europe, including 1,300 in the UK.
Royal Mail announced it is cutting as many as 6,000 jobs by the end of August this year.

What are your redundancy rights?
Companies can choose to lay off staff whenever they want but employees do have rights.
If you have worked your job for two years or more you are entitled to statutory redundancy pay.
But the rate you can get depends on your age, weekly pay and number of years spent in the job.
You will get:
- Half a week’s pay for each full year you worked aged under 22
- One week’s pay for each full year you worked aged 22 or older, but under 41
- One and half week’s pay for each full year you worked while aged 41 or older.
But it’s capped at 20 years and the max redundancy pay you can get is currently £16,320.
Some companies may offer to pay more than the statutory amount. This will usually be in your contract.
Plus, you are still entitled to any pay you are owed for untaken holiday days at the end of your notice period.
The government has a calculator on its website to help you work out how much you are owed.
