AMAZON Fire TV Stick users have noticed a new alert on their devices that others should be aware of.

The tech giant recently started banning some apps from the platform.

In the latest crackdown, this meant an app called Android Debug Bridge (ADB) stopped working.

Amazon has its own selection of approved apps on the Fire Stick but people can also side-load more from third parties.

While this offers more choice it carries the risk of installing dangerous malware that can ruin the device or raid your accounts.

To rein in banned apps further, AFTVNews claims that a new alert has appeared.

The notification warns people that the app they’re trying to install is disabled as it’s “potentially harmful”.

“This app has been disabled becasue it can put your device or personal data at risk,” the message reads.

“You can keep the app on your device but you will be unable to use it.”

This is a change from previous, when the alert was vague on detail, simply saying it “cannot be opened”.

The new message gives users the option to dismiss or uninstall the app right away.

If you choose to ignore it, the space will still be taken up by the app but it won’t appear on the screen to use, so it’s best to just delete the app right away.

Those who do dismiss it can still delete the app after via the settings.

Users on Reddit also noticed the alert, which many aren’t happy about.

“Welcome to the world of the locked down Amazon devices from the past several updates,” one wrote.
