Amanda Staveley has kicked off her appeal against a High Court decision not to award her damages in a long-running battle with Barclays.

The financier’s firm, PCP Capital Partners, sued Barclays for £660m over its controversial emergency funding deal during the 2008 financial crisis.

Though Mr Justice David Waksman’s judgment last month found the bank ‘guilty of serious deceit’ towards PCP, damages were not ordered because the court could not establish that it had suffered a loss due to Barclays’ wrongdoing.

PCP had been working with Abu Dhabi investors in 2008 and secured £3.25billion towards Barclays’ rescue.

But Staveley, 48, alleged that her firm received worse terms from Barclays than other investors – claiming that some were handed secretive fees.
