MINECRAFT’S The Wild update may be long behind us, but many of the features promised in the 1.19 update didn’t quite make it in time.

This means that there are quite a few features coming in the 1.20 update that fans have been eagerly awaiting for.

The End dimension will be waiting a little longer before it gets its overhaul, but there are plenty of other things to enjoy while you wait.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Minecraft 1.20 update:

When is Minecraft 1.20 update’s release date?

There is no official release date yet for Minecraft’s 1.20 update, but we can give a rough time frame.

During the Minecraft Live 2022 presentation we found out the update will come in 2023.

Judging by previous releases, it will likely come out around late January/early February.

Sniffer wins Minecraft mob vote 2022

Minecraft Live held a fan vote to see which new mob should be added to the game.

From the group of Rascal, Tuff Golem and Sniffer, the latter won the vote with a whopping 55%.

Sniffer was a previously extinct mob, and you’ll be able to find its eggs at the bottom of the ocean.

Bring these Sniffer eggs onto land and they’ll hatch and slowly grow into animals which can sniff the ground and dig up mysterious ancient seeds.

Camels are coming in Minecraft 1.20

Alongside the Sniffers camels will also be introduced in the 1.20 update.

Bees, goats and frogs were all added in previous years, and now camels will also be available.

Like horses, they can be tamed and ridden with a saddle, and they can even carry two players at once.

Bamboo can now be crafted in Minecraft 1.20

Bamboo was introduced in 2019, however players haven’t been able to use it as a building material.

Update 1.20 will change this, as bamboo will be able to turn into solid blocks that can be used for anything wood can be used for.

This includes a new type of boat, as bamboo can be tied together to form a raft.

Minecraft 1.20 will let you put books on your bookshelf

Bookshelves have existed in Minecraft since pre-alpha in 2009, but you haven’t been able to put any books on them.

Chiseled bookshelves are being introduced in 1.20, and you can place books on them.

The bookshelf will correctly display how many books you have on your shelf.

This bookshelf will also be a different colour to your standard bookshelf, giving some variety.

Hang signs in Minecraft 1.20

Signs have been slowly upgraded over the years, with changing text colours and glowing effects.

From update 1.20 you’ll also be able to hang signs in front of places rather than have them awkwardly stuck to your walls.

If you hang one from a fence post, it will dangle there from a chain.
