Announcement means 11 of agency’s 14 areas in England now in drought status after record dry spell

All of the south-west of England is now in drought after some of the driest conditions in nearly 90 years, the Environment Agency has said.

Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, south Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire, known as the agency’s Wessex area, have all moved to drought status.
