All combat spells in Hogwarts Legacy

HOGWARTS Legacy releases today (February 10), whether you’re playing on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

As you dive into the wizarding world of Harry Potter, you’ll notice just how vast the open world is.

Spells will help you out both in combat, and with exploration, so it’s good to unlock them as soon as possible. 

Here are all the options for spells, and the quests you need to complete to add them to your roster in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy: All combat spells

There are more spells in Hogwarts Legacy than the ones listed below, but these are the ones you can use in combat.

Some are given to you as part of the main quest, and to unlock others, you will need to complete assignments from teachers.

You’ll need a combination of these in battle to keep the enemy on their toes.

Here’s all the spells you can use in combat in Hogwarts Legacy.

• Imperio – Turns an opponent into an ally temporarily.
  • Complete the side mission In the Shadow of Time.
• Crucio – Causes damage over time to a single enemy.
  • Complete the side mission In the Shadow of the Study. 

• Avada Kedavra – Instantly kills an enemy.
  • Complete the side mission In the Shadow of the Relic. 
• Bombarda – Deals heavy damage and causes an explosion.
  • Complete Professor Howin’s Assignment. 
• Depulso – Pushes opponents away with excessive force.
  • Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1.
• Glacius – Temporarily freeze and incapacitate enemies.
  • Complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1. 
• Incendio – Fires out flames in a short area in front of you.
  • Complete Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1. 
• Accio – Pull enemies towards you.
  • Complete Charms Class. 
• Levioso – Raise enemies into the air.
  • Complete Defense Against the Dark Arts Class. 
• Expelliarmus – Disarms opponents.
  • Complete Professor Hecat’s Assignment 2. 
• Confringo – Casts a ball of fire.
  • Complete the main mission In the Shadow of the Undercroft.
• Flipendo – Flips enemies 360 upside down.
  • Complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2. 
• Arresto Momentum – Slows enemies.
  • Complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 2.

•  Transformation – Turns an enemy into an inanimate object. 
  • Complete Professor Weasley’s Assignment. 
• Descendo – Slams an enemy into the ground.
  • Complete Professor Onai’s Assignment. 
• Diffindo – Fires out a severing slash. 
  • Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2. 

Hogwarts Legacy: Best spells to use

Many of the spells can be used on their own but they are even better when used as part of a combo.

Here are the spells we think are the strongest in combat.

• Avada Kedavra *dark arts
• Confringo
• Imperio * dark arts
• Crucio *dark arts
• Depulso
• Levioso
• Flipendo
• Diffindo
• Accio
• Descendo

Talents will make these even stronger. If you don’t want to be a dark wizard you can always forgo the unforgivable curses.

If you don’t want to dabble in the dark arts, then you will want to focus on aerial attacks. 

Your basic case is a four-hit combo, and the final hit launches the enemy.

Here is an example of a strong combo:

• Levioso
• 3x basic cast
• Accio
• 3x basic cast
• Flipendo
• 3x basic cast
• Descendo

The more you practice these basic combos the better you will get at combining them together.
