ANDROID users have warned about a new strain of malware called XLoader.
Malware is a malicious file or code that can infect your phone or computer.

And XLoader has been found to steal users’ data by disguising itself as Google Chrome, experts said.
This malicious software has been detected so far in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
HOW DOES THE MALWARE WORK?
NewsBytes reported that the malware is distributed through SMS text messages.
The texts contain a shortened URL link that when clicked installs the malware onto the user’s device.
Once users grant the malware permission to access their phones, it can steal photos, messages, contacts, and IMEI numbers.

Thankfully, Android devices with Google Play Protect are safeguarded from this type of malware.
Play Protect should be enabled by default, but just in case you don’t have it, here’s how to get it.
The app is available to download for free on the Google Play store if it’s not automatically downloaded onto your device.
