Tainted brand? Former NatWest boss Alison Rose
The Government is to rebrand its ‘Rose review’ into female entrepreneurship, named after former NatWest boss Alison Rose.
The banking executive stepped down this summer from the project, which she was appointed to lead four years ago. She was forced out of NatWest in a scandal after discussing the details of the bank’s relationship with Nigel Farage with a journalist earlier this year.
The next steps for the ‘Rose review’ are to be announced within weeks, according to The Guardian.
Since its inaugural report in 2019, the review has examined the barriers for female business leaders and recommended support measures to help women.
But it is thought the Government now wants to distance itself from Rose.
The business department said the review’s next chair, to be appointed by Secretary of State Kemi Badenoch, would take a final decision on ‘a new brand for our work on women’s enterprise’.
Rose said she was ‘incredibly proud of the Rose review and the great progress that has been made’.
