Media assets backed by far-right radio host Alex Jones filed for bankruptcy protection after courts in Texas and Connecticut found him liable to families of the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting for falsely saying the massacre was a hoax.

Mr. Jones has ceded his interests in conspiracy-oriented website and media company Infowars and other business assets to provide a mechanism for the payment of the defamation claims against them, according to court papers filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston on Monday.
