THOUSANDS of shoppers have been left hanging after Aldi’s popular egg chair sold out within minutes of going back on sale this morning.
The discount supermarket emailed shoppers last night to say its cult classic chair would go back on sale for £149.99 at 8am this morning, but was sold out by 8:18am.
Thousands of shoppers were left queuing to get onto the website this morning and a message at 8:18am said: “Our egg chairs have now sold out.
“We are sorry if you missed out this time but please check back soon – more stock will be added over the coming weeks.
“Please note – during busy times order confirmation emails may take a few hours to arrive in your inbox.”
One lucky shopper who got her hands on one described it on Twitter as similar to queuing for Glastonbury tickets.
But others who were not so lucky took to the social network to express their anger, with one user regretting being too slow.
Another shopper said there was more chance of winning the lottery than getting an egg chair from Aldi.
Aldi has been asked for comment.
The chair is a favourite among celebrities including Mrs Hinch and Stacey Solomon.
Shoppers were furious last month when a “technical issue” meant the supermarket’s sell-out egg chair went up for sale early – and sold out in minutes.
Earlier this month, Stacey Solomon showed off an indoor egg chair she snapped up for £25.
Aldi’s new garden range includes the sell-out hanging egg chair, as well as other items for green-fingered shoppers.
