ALDI will hire more than 2,000 new workers in the UK before Christmas as it plans to open more stores.

The roles available will include store assistants, managerial positions, caretakers, cleaners and apprentices.

The hiring spree comes as the discount supermarket is pushing ahead with proposals to open more than one new shop a week – more than 20 new branches this year.

It is opening new stores in Canterbury, Swansea and London, as well as other cities and towns across the UK.

Store assistants at Aldi can earn up to £10.57 nationally, and £11.32 inside the M25, the supermarket said.

As well as store assistants, the grocer is recruiting 900 distribution centre staff and 175 head office workers.

Aldi will also hire 80 university leavers to join its next graduate scheme intake, starting in September.

Those roles are included in the overall 2,000 new jobs, which you can apply for on the Aldi website.

Giles Hurley, chief executive of Aldi UK, said: “As we continue to invest in new stores, bringing unbeatable Aldi prices to millions of customers, we’re looking for thousands more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country.

“I look forward to welcoming each and every one of them in the future.”

The supermarket has also previously announced plans to expand its online shopping service.

It launched a click and collect trial last year, allowing shoppers to order online and pick up their food from store carparks.

Aldi has rolled out its Deliveroo home delivery service to 129 stores.
