Its Aldi Wine Club is looking to enlist a total of 30 new members to trial, test and review.

Members get to taste three bottles of the discount chain’s new range of wine over a six-week period.

The chosen wine lovers will be asked to share their honest reviews of the wines across their Instagram or Twitter pages, using the dedicated #AldiWineClub hashtag.

New members will also be provided with tips on how to taste the wines.

The tasting notes will come from Sam Caporn, “Mistress of Wine” from the Aldi Wine School.

Some of the tips will include: “Keep the wine you plan to taste somewhere that has a fairly constant, cool temperature.”

This is because big temperature fluctuations are bad for wine so above the oven for example is a big no-no.

Sara also said: “It may seem pretentious to smell wine, but it’s a really important step of the wine tasting process as aroma and taste equal flavour.

“Smelling wine releases the aromas and helps you to identify different flavours that your tongue might not pick up.

“Gently swirl the glass just before to make it easier to pick up on your favourite wine flavours that your taste buds alone won’t be able to pick up.”

Further to this Sara says it’s best not to service white or pink wines too cold because it “makes them harder to smell”.

She added: “As the wine warms up in the glass you will find the wine changes slightly and the aromas become more distinct.”

To be in with a chance of landing the role, all budding tasters need to do is send an email to [email protected].

They’ll need to include the following:

  • Full name
  • Proof of age
  • The name of your social media handles and the number of followers for each account
  • 150 words explaining why you think you should be selected as part of Aldi’s Wine Club
  • What your favourite Aldi wine is and why?

Entries are open from now until Monday, March 13.
