The spread sells for £1.85 at the supermarket giant with the artificial flavours giving the sweet taste fans love.

Cookies and cream is a desert flavour that includes chocolate cookies mixed into a sweet dairy product like ice cream.

Almost half of the product is sugar, with each 100 grams containing 43 grams of sugar.

It provides around 23 servings from one 350g jar and can be used on breads and pastries and is suitable for vegetarians.

Fans have also been lapping up the similar new spread – an irresistibly sweet Hazelnut Praline topping.

The £2 jar is packed with hazelnuts infused with cocoa and vanilla extract for a unique flavour.

The Sun has also tested chocolate spreads against Nutella with the winner only costing half the price.

Nutella is an instantly recognisable taste with smooth, thick, gooey hazelnut and cocoa spread – it tastes just like a whole jar of the soft centre of a Ferrero chocolate.

Lindt is also now selling a hazelnut spread to rival Nutella.

The chocolate maker claims its “smooth mixture” retains the “full chocolate aroma” of its iconic treats.
