In Cadbury Heroes collections, there was an average of nine Eclairs and Fudges but just five Twirls and Wispas.

Celebrations had an average of 12 Milky Way and Snickers and only six each of Galaxy and Galaxy Caramel.

And Roses has nine Dairy Milk but four each of three other types.

Consumer group Which? selected the most popular chocolate selections sold at all major supermarkets and bought three 600g-to -650g tubs of each.

They then worked out the average of each chocolate inside.

Spokesman Lisa Barber said: “A box of chocolates on the sofa and a Christmas movie is a seasonal tradition but you might find yourself fighting over your favourites if there just aren’t enough of them to go around.

“There is a selection box for everyone, so make sure you get the one best suited to the tastes of your household.”
