Zara’s parent company said it had appointed the daughter of the retailer’s founder as its new chairwoman, placing a little-known 37-year-old atop one of the world’s largest fashion chains.

Inditex SA on Tuesday said Marta Ortega Perez, the daughter of its billionaire founder and controlling shareholder Amancio Ortega, would start in her new role in April. She will succeed Pablo Isla, who previously led the company during a period of global expansion as chief executive.
