ALDI has launched a new Specialbuy trolley that comes complete with a wine rack to help shoppers navigate the shop with their hauls.

If you’ve ever struggled with a normal sized trolley or basket while stocking up in Aldi’s middle aisle, you might want to give the extra long version a go.

The supersize trolley was trialled Aldi announced that it will add an extra Specialbuy sales date each week throughout December.

Currently Specialbuys hit stores on Thursdays and Sundays but now they’ll be available on Tuesdays in the run up to Christmas too.

The trial trolley included upgraded, solid rubber wheels for extra control, a drop down panel for easy loading of heavier items and various hooks, clips and straps.

It also has a wine rack, so you can take advantage of Aldi’s budget tipples, a wine rack and an amber flashing light to alert other shoppers.

Aldi said the trolley, which was revealed at its new Stamford store, is part of a pilot.

But it didn’t share any details on whether it will be available at any other stores in the future.

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “We always hear of people popping in for a loaf of bread and coming out with a kayak or other impromptu Specialbuy purchases – so we thought we’d design a trolley to make this kind of shopping trip even easier.

“With the introduction of a Tuesday on-sale date this Christmas, it’s great that we can give our customers even more opportunities to get their hands on the latest must-haves, and we’re constantly on the lookout for new ways to help make shopping easier – including how Specialbuy fans purchase the items from our famous middle aisle.”

The supermarket even has its own online home and furniture store, which it launched last month, allowing shoppers to buy homeware all year round.

It has been released Christmas themed Specialbuys over the past few weeks including festive jumpers and fleecy trousers.

Aldi is planning to open 15 new stores before the end of the year – check if there’s one setting up shop near you.
