FASHIONISTAS are increasingly turning to dress rental services to slash the cost of the Christmas party season.

Now, M&S has joined the trend, becoming one of the first major retailers to offer its clothes up for hire.

M&S fans can now rent dresses through Hirestreet with prices starting from just £13

M&S’s first rental collection is made up of over 40 womenswear pieces from its elegant Autograph range.

It is focused on premium fabrics such as leather and silk, and the very latest dresses from its popular M&S X Ghost collaboration.

The rental items would cost between £69 – £299 to buy outright from M&S.

Now they’re available to rent on Hirestreet, with prices starting from just £13 for four days.

Clothing rental is growing in popularity as a way to boost sustainability by avoiding fast fashion and wear-once clothing.

But it’s also a great way to save pennies if you’ve got a big event coming up on a budget.

Hiring all your clothes would obviously work out much more expensive over time, but if you have a party or wedding you want to look glam for, renting can be a cheap way to get a designer name for just a couple of days.

It’s particularly good if you don’t go to many similar events so wouldn’t get your money’s worth buying outright, or if you don’t want to be tied to the same dresses for every party.

The rental trend has also had the spotlight thrown on it by celebs including Holly Willoughby getting in on the action.

One savvy shopper told the Sun she managed to rent a £2,000 Gucci suit for just £34.

While there are plenty of websites that allow you to rent clothes, M&S is one of the first major retailers to offer its new stock for rent direct.

If you want to swap up your winter wardrobe without spending a fortune, here are some of the best rental sites and apps to consider.

M&S chief operating officer, Katie Bickerstaffe said: “Clothing rental is a growing market.
