PARENTS have been left fuming over the current Roblox outage as their kids act like it’s the “end of the world” while they can’t connect to the gaming platform.

Gamers have not been able to use the platform since it went offline yesterday – and it is not clear when it will be back.

A message on the Roblox website says: “We’re making things more awesome. Be back soon.”

Parents of children who use the platform to play with their friends have been complaining about the outage, with one saying their kids are “broken”.

A parent wrote on Reddit: “As a parent of an 11 year old I’m starting to wonder if this is a social experiment to see how long before kids lose their minds.”

Another replied: “I asked my 11 year old daughter. She thought about it for 2 seconds and answered ‘immediately’. She has developed a taste for the drama.”

One more parent said: “My 8 year old is in the same boat.”

“All my girls have done is kick off about it not working,” commented another.

A mum added: “”Honestly, my son was freaking out because it wouldn’t let me log on. It was like the end of the world.”

The gaming platform is said to have gone down at around 4am IST on October 29, 2021, and problems are said to remain with the site more than 24 hours later.

Yesterday, Roblox shared two updates on their Twitter account.

The first read: “We know you’re having issues using Roblox right now. We’re sorry and working hard to get things back to normal.”

In a later update, it added: “Still making progress on today’s outage. We’ll continue to keep you updated. Once again, we apologize for the delay.

“We know that this outage was not related to any specific experiences or partnerships on the platform.”

Currently, there is no official word when services will be back to normal.

The Roblox investigation team is said to be aware of the situation which is affecting millions of players around the world.

The gaming platform is popular among children but in August this year, a new video investigation from People Make Games accused Roblox Corporation of “exploiting” young game developers, reports Eurogamer.

The video claimed Roblox encourages young people to work hard without any opportunity for success.

The video included an interview with an 11-year-old boy who said he failed to make it as a Roblox developer.

He said: “Even though Roblox encourages you to make games, the likelihood of you making a successful game is basically zero.

“You always compete with the people that have lots of money.”

‘BACK SOON’

Roblox was the brainchild of Canadian David Baszucki, who had been involved in programming educational physics and mechanical simulation software since 1989.

In 2004, he and co-founder Erik Cassel, created the beta version of Roblox under the name DynaBlocks.

Baszucki started testing the first demos that year and eventually renamed the game a year later in line with the company brand.

The game officially launched in 2006.
