Sky is back online following a two-hour outage that left users across East and Central Scotland unable to access the internet.  

According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 12:30 BST, with over 3,000 reports of problems. 

Sky has now confirmed that the outage is finally over.

It tweeted: ‘There was an outage impacting Sky Broadband and Talk customers in East and Central Scotland this afternoon. 

‘The issue has now been resolved & we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.’

According to Down Detector, the issues with Sky Broadband started at around 12:30 BST, with over 3,000 reports of problems

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues to Down Detector, 98 per cent said they could not access the internet, while 1 per cent were having problems with their TV, and one per cent were experiencing a total blackout.  

Several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss today’s internet outage.

One user wrote: ‘Internet down for last hour & very poor Sky 4G coverage in North Berwick a real issue. I have to use wifi calling to make a phone call.

‘Are you planning to do something about this or should I consider moving to another provider (using my wife’s BT phone to send this).’

Another wrote: ‘Internet is down, check twitter, seems it’s wide spread over Scotland, and Sky are pretending nothing is wrong.’

And one tweeted: ‘Why is the broadband service so unreliable this a second month the entire east coast of Scotland has no internet connection. Absolutely appalling SKY.’
