APPLE has created a new version of its “space mode” to take better pictures of the night sky on iPhone 13 Pro.

The new smartphone was unveiled last night – with a faster processor, improved camera and double the storage.

But one quiet improvement was only briefly mentioned during the Apple event.

Apple has actually improved astrophotography on the iPhone 13 Pro with a number of tricks.

All you need is a smartphone tripod, which can be cheaply bought on Amazon.

This steadies the iPhone, and allows it to capture longer-exposure shots.

This capability already existed in the iPhone, but it’s now better with iPhone 13 Pro.

Night Mode lets you take photos in the dark without using flash by having an AI automatically brighten your snaps for you.

It can even add a touch of light to snaps you’ve already taken, allowing you to effectively “see in the dark”.

Apple says that feature works automatically whenever the phone senses dim lighting conditions.

And when you activate a tripod, you can take long exposure shots of the night sky that capture more detailed images.

Apple has built larger sensors into the iPhone 13 Pro that can capture more light – boosting low-light photography.

But the tripod mode has also changed slightly.

The system previously took 10 three-second exposures over a 30-second period to create an image.

Now it takes three 10-second exposures, to gather light better.

This, combined with better noise reduction, improved sensors and boosted computation for darker scenes, means astrophotography is significantly improved on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.

Apple’s new iPhone 13 Pro is available to pre-order for £949/$999 this Friday.

And it will be available generally from Friday, September 24.
