GOOGLE is finally getting a dark mode that will put an end to the website’s blinding white design.

Opening the search engine early in the morning or late at night can be a horrifying experience.

Now Google has vowed to follow the lead of countless other apps and websites to introduce a dark mode.

Previously, users who wanted a dark Google would have to install third-party software.

Google now says that an official Dark Mode will begin rolling out from today.

And it will land on all devices very soon.

“I’m thrilled to announce that starting today and fully rolling out over the next few weeks, Dark theme is now available for Google Search pages on desktop,” a Google product manager explained.

“Search pages include the Google homepage, search results page, and Search settings, among others.

“Thanks again for letting us know this was a feature you wanted to see on Google Search!”

So how do you get it?

Go to the Google search page and then enter Settings.

This might be a text link at the bottom of the page, or a cog-wheel in the top right.

Next choose Search Settings, and then click Appearance.

Choose Device Default or Dark as your option.

Device Default will automatically match the colour scheme of your current device.

And Dark will permanently stick to a dark background.

If these settings don’t appear for you, don’t panic.

It’s entirely possible that the new feature hasn’t rolled out for you just yet.

These settings may already be activated for you, so the change could be automatic as soon as it rolls out to your device.
