Serco has seen profits soar, boosted by its involvement in Covid-19 contracts
Serco has seen its profits soar, bolstered by its involvement in Covid-19 Test and Trace contracts. The London-listed outsourcer said profit increased by 31 per cent to £116 million for the six months to June.
In June, it won a contract worth up to £322 million to continue running coronavirus testing sites for another year. Serco will pay an interim dividend of 0.8p per share after the profit boost, the first payout to investors since 2014.
Revenues jumped by 19pc to £2.17 billion for the past six months. Its work supporting the Government’s virus response was responsible for around 17pc of its revenues. Boss Rupert Soames said: ‘We have delivered an extremely strong operational performance.’
