Matt Walls dominated the end of the men’s Olympic omnium to earn Team GB’s first gold medal in the velodrome at Tokyo 2020.

Walls, 23 from Oldham, took control of the final event of the omnium, cycling’s version of the decathlon, the 100-lap race, finishing ahead of New Zealand’s Campbell Stewart in silver with defending champion Elia Viviani from Italy taking bronze.
