Orange juice brand Tropicana has been sold to private equity
Orange juice brand Tropicana has been sold to private equity. Drinks giant Pepsico has sold it, Naked and other juice brands to US private equity firm PAI Partners for £3.2 billion.
In recent years, juice sales have been under pressure as consumers cut their sugar consumption.
Pepsico said that demand for its orange juice rose during the pandemic, as more people made breakfast at home, bucking a trend that has seen sales decline.
It and rivals Coca-Cola have been working to shift their sales away from sugary drinks to lower-calorie offerings such as diet soda and bottled water. Tropicana was founded in Florida in 1947 by Anthony Rossi, a former immigrant.
