Three people were killed and five were shot during a graduation party in Kendall, Florida, early Sunday, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

A graduation party was wrapping up at a local strip mall when two vehicles, a dark colored Chevy Malibu and a white Toyota Camry, pulled into the parking lot and began firing on the crowd, said Miami-Dade Police Department Director Freddy Ramirez.

Three people were killed in the shooting, two in a vehicle that crashed into Miami-Dade County College Kendall Campus, and a woman, who was a Florida corrections officer, Ramirez said.

“Our condolences go to her and her family, and to the victims here on the scene … it just goes to show you the magnitude of this gun violence issue doesn’t just affect community members, it affects the law enforcement community, we all have to band together,” Ramirez said.

Five people who were shot are in stable condition, according to Ramirez. The victims were self-transported to local hospitals.

The deceased and living victims were not immediately identified.

The strip mall where the shooting took place contains two businesses, a hookah lounge and a restaurant, NBC Miami reported.

The shooting comes a week after a mass shooting in the Miami area killed three people and injured 20.

“This violence has to stop. And this is extremely frustrating, every weekend is the same thing. And we just got a band together, we did Operation Summer Heat, made a lot of arrests … And here we are again,” Ramirez said.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating the shooting.
