POUNDLAND is selling huge tubs of Thornton’s ice cream for just £2.

Bargain hunters spotted the cool deal in Poundland stores this week, with 3.5litre tubs of chocolate, vanilla, mint choc chip and honeycomb with caramel up for grabs.

Shoppers will be able to find the bargain treat in one of the more than 160 Poundland stores that now have a frozen and chilled foods section.

You can check which Poundland branches have a frozen aisle using the retailer’s online store locator.

Stores that have a frozen section have a small blue snowflake next to them on the list.

Poundland is adding frozen food sections to more of its stores, and expects to have 200 by the summer.

This ice cream deal is only expected to run for a couple of weeks – or until stock sells out.

But similar bargains are expected to be in stores in the future, as Poundland has recently bought frozen food supplier Fulton’s Foods and can pass the savings on to customers.

It’s not clear whether the stock is left over after Thornton’s decided to permanently close all of its high street stores earlier this year.

But members of Facebook group Poundland Appreciation Society said the tubs were “obviously what goes in the ice cream counter unit”.

In other Poundland news, the high street chain recently launched a home delivery service for customers after successfully trialling the scheme with workers.

And it has opened two new corner shop style stores in Yorkshire.
