MORE shoppers can finally order online from Poundland as the store has expanded its home delivery trial to more than 1.9million Brits.

Poundland first trialled the home deliveries to its 18,000 staff and a select number of invited customers, before branching out to most of the Midlands.

The new service has been deemed a success after shoppers in Birmingham and Walsall were able to order items and get them delivered to their homes initially.

Now it is being rolled-out to postcodes in the Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Wolverhampton and Dudley areas.

Retail and transformation director Austin Cooke said: “After a positive response to our pilot, we opened the trial to Birmingham and Walsall, and now we’re extending it to new areas in the West Midlands and East Midlands, even touching on Cheshire.”

Delivery costs £4, and over 2,500 products are available to order online, including grocery, entertainment, DIY, and health and beauty items.

This is because a former Poundland store located in nearby Cannock has been converted into a delivery and fulfilment centre for the online orders.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to order shopping for home delivery if you live in any other postcode not mentioned within the area brackets, but you can still register your interest for home deliveries online.

Poundland has said it expects to open up the new service to more of the UK over the year though.

But now that new locations have been added to the trial, Poundland hasn’t confirmed where it will expand to next or when this could happen.

If you live in the areas Poundland is currently trialling home delivery in, then you can use the service heading to the store’s website.

Then you can use the postcode checker and if your postcode is a match you’ll be automatically passed through to the shop without any need to register.

Once you’ve done that, you can shop like you would normally do online, and place an order to be delivered to your home when you get to the checkout.

Your order will arrive via Hermes courier service as Poundland has teamed up with the delivery giant to provide logistics services as the pilot is extended.

It comes as the retailer recently opened a new style of store based on the corner shop format where you can pop in for milk and other essentials.

The shops are named Poundland Locals, and two have opened in Yorkshire as the retailer trials a smaller convenience store format closer to people’s homes.

It’s also planning to expand the number of usual Poundland shops found across Britain’s high streets too.

The bargain retailer will be opening 30 new stores by September, creating an extra 250 jobs.
