If you’re on the hunt for a sleek new dining table, and have a specific design in mind – particularly one with a glass top – what options are available?

We speak to a leading interior designer about their views on glass dining tables, and the best ones to buy, including ones with a metallic base.

The interiors expert also suggests what type of dining chairs to accompany the designs.

Alexander James Interiors has picked three different dining tables for three budgets in mind.

They include a £149 glass top table with black powder coated legs and a more expensive version costing £2,525, which extends to seat 10 people.

Rachel Clark, of Alexander James Interiors, said: ‘Glass tables can add an elegant look to a room, blending in well with surrounding fabrics and furnishings.

‘Although perfect for modern, contemporary interiors, it can also add a luxurious formal look to a dining area, especially when enhanced with a metallic base or table legs and upholstered dining chairs.

‘Glass generally reflects more light around a room, making a glass table a great option for rooms with less natural light, to create a bright, airy interior.

‘Glass furniture also creates a great illusion of more space, making smaller areas of the home look larger and wider.’
