Car insurer Admiral reports 44% jump in claims last year, with average cost more than £1,500

A rise in the theft of catalytic converters from parked cars continued last year with the car insurer Admiral reporting a 44% jump in claims for the issue from its customers.

In recent years thieves have targeted car exhaust systems because some of the rare metals found in the catalytic converters are more valuable than gold and can be easily sold on.
