Virgin Media broadband is now working correctly after suffering a widespread outage earlier today.
Thousands of user complaints were picked up by the independent site DownDetector this morning as the company’s broadband crashed.
Most people who experienced difficulties (80 per cent) with their internet said the problem was with their cable internet, not Virgin’s mobile services.
The outage coincided with thousands of other people complaining that sites like Zoom and Twitter have crashed.

Major cities such as London, Bristol, Birmingham and Brighton were also badly affected by the outage.
A Virgin Media spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Some customers very briefly lost access to certain online content and services this morning.
‘We apologise to anyone impacted by this short issue which lasted around 15 minutes and has now been resolved.’

Virgin Media is one of the most popular broadband providers in the UK and, unlike other internet service providers, has its own infrastructure and does not use the Openreach network.
As a result, customers on BT, TalkTalk, Sky and other networks were unaffected.

Virgin suffered another drop in its broadband coverage last month, when it crashed for Britons between 8am and 9am on March 10.
Virgin rarely divulges the causes of its connection issues and the root of the latest problem remains unknown.
Today’s outage comes as more Britons are returning to the office and ditching working from home after the easing of lockdown restrictions on April 12.
With some children on half term and schools now also back in full flow, this drop in coverage was now as disruptive as outages that occurred in the depths of the nationwide lockdowns in both 2020 and 2021.
However, many people are still working remotely and shielding from the coronavirus.
Affected customers took to social media to vent their frustration at being let down yet again by their internet provider.
Chris Worldey quipped: ‘Thinking of offering my internet counselling because it’s always down.’
