Hinge is giving couples £100 to go on a date on this week

DATING app Hinge is encouraging singletons to make the most of England’s lockdown restrictions easing by paying them to go on dates.

It’s part of a drive to get people off of the app and back on dates as pubs and restaurants emerge from closures brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Provided they’re seated outside, Brits can drink and dine out for the first time in months after England’s lockdown rules were relaxed on Monday.

“At Hinge, we’re hearing our users loud and clear: They’re ready to get back out there and date in person again,” Hinge’s Logan Ury said.

“With this in mind, we expect to see a huge increase in dating this spring as restrictions lift.”

Hinge works by matching users based on their answers to a set of questions asked at sign up.

The app said that it will shell out £50 to each participant of a date organised through a match on the app between April 12 and April 18.

To be eligible, prospective couples will need to confirm via the app that they went on an in-person date with their match.

Hinge will then email details about how they can each receive a £50 gift card that can be put towards their second IRL date.

The New York-based company urged users to observe UK coronavirus restrictions and take all required precautions during any dates.

That takes any heavy petting off the cards, as you’ll have to wear a face mask and observe mandatory social distancing.
