Agreement commits department to rectify failure to comply with equality law when implementing hostile environment policy

The Home Office has signed a legal agreement with the equalities watchdog, forcing the department to rectify its failure to comply with equality law when implementing its hostile environment immigration measures.

The agreement commits the Home Office to a two-year action plan of improvements, designed to ensure that lessons are learned from failures within the department that led to the Windrush scandal.
