MCDONALD’S customers will soon be unable to collect paper stickers as part of a loyalty scheme shake-up.
The fast food chain is axing the stickers on the side of the cups, but fans will still be able to get a free hot drink.

Currently, McDonald’s customers can buy six hot drinks – and then get the seventh one for free by collecting the paper stickers and getting stamps.
However, from July 2021, the loyalty scheme is going digital only.
It means customers will get every sixth hot drink for free, instead of every seventh, if they make their orders through the My McDonald’s app.
The app will automatically add stamps to your account once you order a hot drink, meaning you won’t need to keep track of the paper stickers anymore.

However, you won’t be able to transfer any paper stickers to the app.
The cups without stickers will roll out from July onwards, and McDonald’s then expects the old cups to be out of circulation by the month end.
A spokesperson added to The Sun that it’s currently deciding how long it’ll accept the stickered cards for, and it couldn’t say a date.
In other words, if you have enough paper stamps in your wallet to get a free drink, it’s worth using them sooner rather than later.
How to find your nearest McDonald’s
MCDONALD’S has just under 1,300 branches across the UK.
To find your nearest one, you can use the free McDonald’s restaurant locator tool.
Enter your postcode and the webpage will bring up your nearest branches.
Or if you’re using the app, you’ll be asked to enter your postcode to find your local McDonald’s.
Currently, McDonald’s is giving away a free hot drink to everyone who downloads the app.
Customers who take advantage of the offer can choose any regular size hot drink, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
Prices vary depending between branches, but normally you can expect to pay 99p for a tea or a hot chocolate and £1.49 for a cappuccino or latte.
To claim the freebie, you’ll need to register on the app by July 5.
Once signed up, you’ll be able to claim the freebie in the offers section of the app – you don’t need to order anything else either to get your free drink.
If you download the app and order the free drink, you’ll also get the first stamp added to your online account.
Until the stickers are axed, you can collect them on paper cups as well as through the app.
McDonald’s branches remain closed for dine-in due to lockdown, but you can order for takeaway through the app.
Fans can also get food delivered to their doorstep by Uber Eats and Just Eat, although keep in mind you’ll be charged a fee for the trouble.
