The kids channels would usually set you back £5 a month as part of the Kids TV pick bundle.

They will automatically appear on your channel menu when the offer starts, so you don’t have to do anything.

Shows which your kids can watch for free include Peppa Pig, Dora the Explorer, Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry.

You’ll be able to watch for free until March 2.

Virgin Media is also offering the TV app Hopster for free until the end of March.

The app usually costs £4.99 a month and provides learning games, books and music for pre-schoolers.

You can access the app via your Virgin TV set-top box for free by pressing the ‘home’ button on your Virgin TV remote and clicking on the ‘Games & Apps’ area.

You’ll also be able to stream free educational videos and kids box sets to help with homeschooling.

Virgin Media chief TV & entertainment officer David Bouchier said the offer has been rolled out because of the “pressures on families to both educate and entertain the kids” while Brits continue to stay at home under Covid rules.

He said: “We’ve seen a surge in popularity of kids programmes and apps during the pandemic and believe that this offering will make things a little easier for parents navigating home schooling and half term in lockdown.”

We explain how parents can get free data or broadband for kids studying at home from Virgin Media, Vodafone, Three or BT.

And millions of kids will have access to a free book every week while schools remain closed.
