NANDO’S is turning up the heat with an “extra, extra hot” sauce made with African Bird’s Eye chillies – and it’s said to be its spiciest ever.

Available from tomorrow, January 26, the new sauce called “Vusa” will take the top spot on the chicken chain’s Peri-ometer.

It combines garlic, lemon and the spicy chillies, which measure 175,000 Scoville heat units, according to Chilli Pepper Madness.

The restaurant chain already offers spice levels ranging from “plain…ish” to medium, hot and extra hot.

As with all other heat levels, the latest spice can be added to a wide range of menu items, ranging from its Peri-Peri chicken to plant-based alternatives.

The sauce is a guest flavour and will be available to order from Nando’s restaurants until mid-May.

Nando’s spices

NANDO’S customers can have their chicken as mild or spicy as they like, thanks to the following seasonings.

The grilled chicken chain offers:

  • Plain… ish
  • Coconut and lemon
  • Lemon and herb
  • Medium
  • Hot
  • Extra hot
  • Extra, extra hot (available from January 26)

All Nando’s restaurants across England are currently closed for dine-in due to coronavirus lockdown, but you can still order a takeaway via the website or delivery through Deliveroo.

Click and collect is free, while Deliveroo charges vary depending on what day you order and how far away you live from the restaurant.

You can find your nearest Nando’s restaurant by using the locator tool.

You should visit the Deliveroo app to find out if where you live is eligible for delivery.

At the moment, the sauce is only available on restaurant orders so you won’t be able to pick up a bottle from the supermarket.

Alternatively, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are selling other similar sauces by Nando’s.

For example, Asda charges £2.48 for a 250g bottle of the Nando’s “Vusa” sauce, which is said to be different to the new restaurant flavour.

While Sainsbury’s and Tesco both charge £2 for a 125g bottle.

Or you can buy a 250g bottle of Nando’s similar “extra, extra hot” sauce for £2 at Morrisons.

Nando’s launched a limited edition clementine flavour this Christmas.

It replaced the coconut and lemon spice, which was only added to the menu in July, as the new seasonal flavour.

Meanwhile, we explain how to make your own Nando’s, McDonald’s, Greggs and KFC at home.
