Courts and vaccine clinics affected as more freezing conditions are forecast for coming days

Heavy snow and freezing rain have hit Scotland and northern England, affecting court trials and disrupting Covid vaccination appointments.

Amid warnings that the ‘Beast from the East 2’ could affect the UK next week, the Met Office issued an amber snow warning for parts of Scotland and north-east England overnight, with up to 11cm falling in the Perth and Kinross area, 5cm in Cumbria, and large accumulations in other parts of northern England. A yellow snow and ice warning had been issued for Saturday, covering large parts of Scotland and northern and central England.
