WITH the end of 2020 just around the corner, M&S shoppers will need to check when the stores are open around the New Year period.

The hours that supermarkets open and close over the holiday period will be different from the opening times shoppers are familiar with.

Marks & Spencer is expected to keep the majority of its stores open on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

But you’ll still need to check its store finder tool for the latest hours, as opening times will vary.

M&S retail, operations and property director Sacha Berendji said: “We want our customers to be able to shop with confidence this Christmas.

“Which means supporting social distancing in our stores and minimal queueing outside as the weather gets colder.”

What are M&S’ opening hours over New Year?

Stores will be open on New Year’s Eve from 8am, but are set to have slightly earlier closing times.

For example, some will shut at 7pm instead of their usual 10pm close.

Whether or not your branch is open on New Year’s Day is variable, so check with the locator tool to be sure.

If your local is open, it’s likely there will be reduced hours in place.

For example, some shops will open at 10am and shut between 4pm and 6pm.

Most stores operated on reduced hours on Christmas Eve and did’t stay open until midnight.

Steve Rowe, CEO at M&S said stores will were closed on December 26 so staff can “enjoy more special time with their loved ones”.

They reopened on December 27.
