Why is staying connected to your SOURCE so important in your quest to get your bank account filled with cash by the Invisible Paymaster?
First, it is the blessing of the Lord that makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it [Proverbs 10:22]. Think about that for a moment. The only way you can be truly rich without having sorrow with it is if the riches come to you through the blessing of GOD. Any other source of riches that does not come from GOD has sorrow attached to it.
If you’re like me, you’ll ask yourself, what is the point in being rich if sorrow will dog your every step? As for me, I don’t want that sort of wealth. It’s a no, no, no, for me.
One of the best news I got from the Word of GOD is that in addition to offering me salvation for my soul, He also wants me to prosper and be in good health [3 John 2; Deuteronomy 8:18; Psalms 35:27].
What a wonderful offer! You see, discovering your SOURCE and hanging on to Him is the smartest decision anyone with a little brain can take. That’s why I decided to bum the bridges behind me and go for it with everything I’ve got.
Second, when you stumble into wealth, as some do, the next challenge is the fear they have of losing it all. And what a tormenting fear! If you haven’t made money, I mean if you have not experienced cash flowing into your bank account steadily, you cannot understand what I’m saying here.
But if you have been there, you know that the greatest fear of most people in that position is how not to return to the place where money was a hassle to come by.
Ask any pensioner who has received their retirement benefit or anyone who has received a lump sum as their severance pay. They will tell you that their greatest nightmare comes when they watch that money dwindling with no idea of how they are going to replenish it when it finishes.
You see, it’s this fear that makes those in a position to do so to keep stealing more money even after they’ve stolen what they could not finish spending throughout their lifetime if the money were a blessing from GOD.
For as the Bible says,
“As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, so is he who gets riches, but not by right; it will leave him In the midst of his days, and at his end he will be a fool” (Jeremiah 17: 11).
But guess what? I found what the Word says in Ecclesiastes 3:14 which liberated me from such fear forever. It reads: I know that whatever GOD does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. GOD does it, that men should fear before Him:
That was it! I know deep down in my spirit man that GOD cannot deny Himself. He has said those words. They stand sure forever. So, all I’ve to do is walk in the light of it by ensuring that every kobo that comes into my bank account is clean money – a blessing from the Lord.
Once that is the case, I have no fear of waking up one morning and discovering that it has disappeared, and if for any reason at all it does, my confidence in Him that He will restore all that I lost is unshakeable. Is it guaranteed that He will restore, you ask? Yes is my unequivocal answer. And this testimony of mine will prove it to you.
If you read this column in the last edition, you will recall that I said I was owing close to N30 million coming to the year 2001. But that was only part of the story. The other part of it was that as of April 1998, our business was free from any kind of debt burden. In fact, we were not operating with bank facilities and our credit rating with our suppliers was very good.
Then it happened! Four months later, in September, the whole picture changed. A judgment against a magazine we had discontinued in September 1991 saw bailiffs carting away our vehicles and vital equipment that we used for our production.
Before the end of the same month, our account was overdrawn with one of our banks for the first time in roughly three years. By the end of the year 2001, we were in the red for roughly N30m.
Having arrived at a place where I thought all we needed was to just start coasting along only to find ourselves in a sea of red ink, where generating less than N500,000 in an entire month as against twice that same amount in a week was nothing short of a miracle, I guess you will agree with me that we truly hit rock bottom.
But the story has not ended. In July 2002, GOD spoke to me in a very strange way. We had just returned from our Business Leadership Forum, the monthly program that we held for members of the SuccessDigest Leaders’ Club [now discontinued].
As I stepped into the house and headed towards the refrigerator to drink water, I heard a voice that said to me: “Your sales are up; your sales are up.” This came as a surprise to me because I wasn’t thinking about our sales nor was our publishing business on my mind.
Long story short, the stark reality before me today is that from that day, our sales had headed in only one direction: up!
Because of the voice that I heard, I began to pay extra attention to our sales. Sometime towards the end of 2003, I think, I suddenly realized that between the time I heard the voice and this period in 2003, we had made more money in that single year than in all the previous years we had been in business put together.
Okay, maybe we didn’t quite double the size of our total revenue over the years. But when you experience a cash surge the way we did in that single year, you may be forgiven for feeling the way I did about it.
What is the point of this testimony? Remember what Ecclesiastes 3:14 said? That’s it. The two reasons – that if the financial blessing is not from GOD it has sorrow trailing it and that whatever GOD does is permanent – are why I strongly believe and highly recommend that when you start getting paid by the Invisible Paymaster, you must absolutely be sure that it carries the blessing of GOD.
This brings me to the next two items on my seven-point list: Tithing and Sowing. These two go hand in hand. They are about releasing part of what is in your hand in order to increase it.
Deep understanding of these spiritual secrets and walking in the light of what GOD’s Word says about them, is responsible for the great wealth you see some of your wealthiest neighbors command.
You know, according to what Master Jesus said, the Scriptures cannot be broken [John 10:35).
Here is what the Scripture says about tithing:
“Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” [Malachi 3:10 – The Amplified Bible).
