GMP says investigation does not imply ‘hard and fast evidence’, as Labour says it is confident Rayner complied with rules

Labour has said it remains “completely confident” that Angela Rayner has complied with all rules, after the chief constable of Greater Manchester police said she was facing investigation “over a number of assertions knocking about”.

The deputy Labour leader has faced allegations of breaching electoral law and avoiding capital gains tax, and questions over her former council tax arrangements.
