IT’S nearly time to pack away the woolly jumpers and bulky coats and embrace the warmer weather.

But do you find your seasonal clothing less than inspiring?

Personal stylist Alex Standley has tips on how to refresh your wardrobe on a budget . . .

TAKE A BOW: Bows are a big trend for 2024 and a great way to refresh clothes you already own. Alex says: “You can find bow clips that can be added to shoes and bags, or as a hair accessory, for less than £3.”

PLAN AHEAD: Think about special events coming up in the summer, such as weddings, where you need a new outfit. Looking sooner rather than later means you are less likely to panic buy close to the occasion.

Alex says embellished dresses and statement skirts are in this year.
You can look out for items on eBay or your local charity shop to get a fabulous outfit at a discount price.

CHARITY SHOP: It might take some patience, but you can stumble upon some treasures in charity shops.

Alex suggests broadening your search across all rails. She says: “Check out the men’s section. I love finding things like cashmere sweaters, which are often a more flattering, modern and looser fit in men’s styling.”

LOW-COST INVESTMENT: Good-quality staples, such as leather jackets, coats and handbags, will get you through season after season. And you can find these premium pieces at a snip of their original price on second-hand selling sites such as Vinted and Depop.

Alex recommends using alert functions to notify you when something new is listed.

TO DYE FOR: If you want to feel on trend in the coming months without dropping buckets of cash, consider dying items at home.

Alex says: “The hot colours of the season are red, lilac and pale blue.”

A packet of machine dye is around £6 on Amazon and will work on most materials.
