Switch owners are getting another free game this week – and fans can’t wait 

NINTENDO has just announced another free game coming to Nintendo Switch owners this week, and it’s one that’s got fans very excited. 

The game will be included in the Nintendo Switch Online service, meaning subscribers will be able to access it at no extra cost once it’s released.

It’s a Game Boy Advance game called F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, part of the widely loved F-Zero series and one of the only portable games in the series. 

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is a fast-paced racing game where players take control of super-powered hover vehicles in a futuristic city. 

The game was first released on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, and is set 25 years after the events of the SNES game F-Zero. 

It was followed up by F-Zero GX for the GameCube as well as F-Zero GP Legend and F-Zero Climax for the Game Boy Advance. 

The series went dormant after that for quite some time, only to be resurrected last year as another free game for NSO subscribers, F-Zero 99. 

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is one of 14 Game Boy Advance games available on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, which also comes with Sega Mega Drive and Nintendo 64 games. 

Subscribers also get access to content on the lower tier of Nintendo Switch Online, which has over 200 retro games available across the NES, SNES, and Game Boy/Game Boy Color libraries. 

Maximum Velocity is also notably the last announced game to hit the service, after it was announced with the initial batch of games back in 2023. 

After this release, Nintendo will have no announced retro games coming to the platform, although it’s expected some will still make their way across. 

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity will be released on Nintendo Switch on March 29, 2024.

It comes after the rumours that the successor console to the Nintendo Switch, referred to by fans as Nintendo Switch 2, was delayed into 2025, after previously being rumoured to launch in late 2024.
