POKÉMON Scarlet and Violet are great games, but they have been known to have many bugs that have frustrated fans since launch.

While many of the bugs in the Nintendo Switch games have been fixed in the year and change since its release, some have persisted.

The most egregious bugs are present in the game’s Tera raids, which sees multiple players teaming up to take down a strong Pokémon

Since the games’ launch in November 2022, raids have been plagued with bugs, many of which prevented players from dealing damage, using moves, and even saw enemies inexplicably healing.

Interestingly, though, a new bug has been discovered in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that may actually help players in raids.

The new bug was discovered by players on social media, and then confirmed by Pokémon dataminer and researcher Anubis

Anubis found that there was an interesting quirk with the Cheer system, which lets players cheer instead of making a move to boost the team’s attack or defense stats by 50%.

The cheers last for three turns, but Anubis found that if a Pokémon fainted while the cheer boost was active, it would keep that boost permanently for the rest of the raid, even stacking with further cheer boosts.

For example, if a Pokémon has 100 attack, the cheer will boost its attack to 150, and if it faints during that time, it will be revived with 150 attack.

If a player does an attack cheer again, the attack stat will be boosted to 200, and fainting once more would keep that stat permanently, too.

This has huge implications for raids, where players could choose to intentionally take a faint after cheering to boost their stats and do more damage after revival.

This would mean that players have less time to complete the raid, as fainting during a raid reduces the timer, but in the right circumstances the tradeoff could be worth it.

It comes shortly after The Pokémon Company announced the next entry in the long-running series, Pokémon Legends: Z-A
