FREEVIEW viewers have gained a free channel today and its perfect for movie nights.

New channel Filmstream features a slate of award winning films that are not available on mainstream channels.

Some of the films have clinched prestigious awards such as the Oscars; Palme d’Or in Cannes; Golden Lion in Venice, and the Golden Bear in Berlinale.

The channel, part of French owned Canal+, will also feature timeless classics such as A Farewell to Arms, Charade and Cyrano de Bergerac.

Filmstream is available on any Freeview Play device, connected to the internet, via channel 269.

Picture quality will be dependent on the broadband connection speed.

The celeb-backed ROXi music streaming service is already available to millions as a downloadable app.

Simon CowellKylie MinogueRobbie Williams and Sheryl Crow have already been enlisted to curate their own music video channels on the platform.

But ten extra stations will now be available to stream directly from TV sets.

LG smart TVs are the first to receive them via LG Channels, with others set to follow soon.

The selection includes Hot Right Now with all the latest music videos from the world’s biggest stars, as well as Greatest Music Videos of All Time.

ROXi has teamed up with streamed TV specialists Frequency for its new FAST (Free Advertising Supported Television) channels.

“We believe consumers deserve the best made-for-TV music experience, which is why we’re making ROXi’s curated music video channels available to millions of FAST users for free,” said ROXi CEO Rob Lewis.
