The Easter bank holiday weekend is almost upon us, and for many people this means four days off.

However this also means opening times are slightly different to usual, which includes the petrol pumps.

Sainsbury’s petrol stations

Sainsbury’s has around 300 petrol stations attached to its main supermarkets.

On Good Friday, most petrol stations are expected to be open from 7am until 9pm.

Then on Easter Saturday, you’ll be able to fill up from 6am until 11pm in most stores.

Come Easter Sunday, petrol stations at most sites will be open from 7am until 9pm, and the same goes for Easter Monday.

Shoppers are advised to check the opening times of their nearest Sainsbury’s petrol station online.

Garden centres are open in some places over the Easter weekend too.

Morrisons petrol stations

Morrisons petrol stations will open 7am until 9pm on the bank holiday days.

The supermarket has around 340 fuel stops across the country many alongside its shops.

Tesco petrol stations

Tesco has over 500 petrol stations across the country, some alongside big supermarkets and others near smaller Express shops.

Like other supermarkets, there are different opening times depending on the location.

Some Tesco fuel stops are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week – including bank holidays.

Others may open early in the morning and close late at night.

To check your nearest opening hours on the bank holiday, visit the Tesco website.

Asda petrol stations

There are more than 300 Asda petrol stations across the country.

You can fill up with petrol or diesel at any time at some forecourts, which are open 24 hours a day.

But at others, they are closed overnight opening in the early hours of the morning at 5am or 6am.

In some places Asda petrol stations are open until midnight, but exact times will vary depending on your location.

Shell petrol stations

Shell petrol stations are a familiar site for any one hitting the road.

The energy giant has over 1,000 forecourts across the country.

Many of these are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, meaning motorists won’t have to drive by a closed pump most of the time.

Shell garage hours can vary though, so it’s worth checking ahead if one near you is open when you need it.

Some garages are open from 6am until 10pm over the bank holiday.

Esso petrol stations

Esso is the biggest petrol station brand in the UK with over 1,200 locations.

Once again Esso garages are often open 24 hours a day, but the exact hours can vary depending on which one you go to – including over the bank holiday weekend.

You can use Esso’s station finder tool on the Esso website to see which forecourts are open when.

You’ll also be able to see the other amenities it has, like toilets, food and drinks or an ATM.

BP petrol stations

Another major petrol station is BP, which also has more than 1,000 forecourts in the UK.

Many BP locations are open 24/7 meaning drivers can stop off and fill up at any time of the night or day.

Opening times can vary depending on where you are, however, so it can pay to check hours ahead of time before you depart on your car journey.

You can do that by using the “find my nearest BP” search tool on the petrol station brand’s website.

You just need to enter your postcode or town name. Plus you can see what other facilities there are like M&S Simply Food shops, car wash or Wild Bean Cafe.
