IPHONE owners are being warned over a dangerous habit that you must break.

An iPhone expert has revealed exactly what you’re doing wrong – and even Apple has said you risk “injury” if you don’t follow the advice.

Make sure your phone is well-ventilated when it's on charge

If you’re charging your phone overnight, you must make sure it’s never in the bed.

Tech TikTok star Scott Polderman posted a video warning users of official Apple advice about why it’s so dangerous.

“Apple has issued a warning on charging your iPhone overnight,” Scott said in a viral clip.

“And this caught my attention because I charge my phone overnight, and I think most people do.

“But the concern is actually with where the phone is at when it’s charging. It’s important that the phone gets ventilation.

“And if you have the phone next to the bed plugged in and you fall asleep and it’s under the covers or it ends up under your pillow and it can’t get ventilation, that’s when it can cause injury.”

But that’s not all: the charging cord itself can also hurt you.

If the cord is in bed, the heat could cause injury to you while you sleep – and you might not even realize.

“The second warning is about the charging cord,” Scott said.

“You do not want to have prolonged skin contact with the charging cord, especially if you’re sleeping.

“So the bottom line is you wanna make sure that your phone is not in bed with you.

“Because even the cheap or faulty chargers can have issues. But they’ve also seen issues even with the cords that come with your phone, so just don’t have the phone in bed with you.”

APPLE GRUMBLE

Apple’s official support memo echoes these warnings.

The company warns users against having their iPhones anywhere in your bed while on charge.

It’s extremely dangerous and poses a fire risk, even if you’re using official Apple cables and adapters.

“Don’t sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, or place them under a blanket, pillow, or your body, when it’s connected to a power source,” Apple explained.

“Keep your iPhone, the power adapter, and any wireless charger in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging.

“Avoid prolonged skin contact with the charging cable and connector when the charging cable is connected to a power source because it may cause discomfort or injury.

“Sleeping or sitting on the charging cable or connector should be avoided.”

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

iPhone owners replied to Scott’s videos with their own charging mistakes.

One fan wrote: “I’ve been sleeping with my phone charged on my bed with my since 2007.”

Another said: “I’ve burnt myself falling asleep with a running iPhone before.”

One added: “I accidentally left mine in my bed the other night, woke up three hours later and it was under my heating pad and it was like a branding iron. It’s a wonder it didn’t catch.”

And another noted: “I damn near set my bed on fire! I have a huge burn on my arm by falling asleep on my phone.”
