FORTNITE has been down a lot longer than anyone expected, and fans are desperate to get back into the game.

When will Fortnite be back online?

Epic Games has just extended the Fortnite downtime, meaning that it will be offline for a lot longer than expected.

The official Twitter reads: “Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours. 

“We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale. 

“The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we’ll provide another update when we have more info.”

Downtime began at 8am GMT and was expected to end around 2pm GMT.

With the maintenance period’s extension, we expect Fortnite to be back online at 10pm GMT at the earliest.

Why has Fortnite been down?

Fortnite is preparing for the beginning of Chapter 5 Season 2 in the Battle Royale mode with a number of big changes.

There is always downtime scheduled for the start of a new season, but this has been extended longer than usual.

There will be at least an additional eight hours of downtime while Epic Games deals with the unexpected issue.

What can be expected in the Fortnite update?

The new season is called Myths & Mortals and will focus on Greek mythology.

A number of skins for the Greek Gods have been added into the game, and new points of interest, like Mount Olympus, have been added to the map.

Was there a Fortnite live event?

There was a Fortnite live event on the weekend of Saturday, March 2, 2024 until Sunday, March 3, 2024.

A Titan Hand emerged from the ground holding Pandora’s Box covered in a number of chains.

Players worked together to break the chains on Pandora’s Box and open it to unleash evil.
