MailOnline is thrilled to announce an exciting innovation which will make our famous reader comments section even better.

As one of the world’s favourite news websites, we’ve always been proud of our reader comments section, and we are incredibly grateful that so many of readers come to our site each day to share their thoughts and opinions on the world’s biggest stories.

Today we are rolling out a new commenting system that will transform the way our readers interact with our articles, journalists and with each other – making it quicker and easier to share your thoughts on the stories leading the agenda.

We've also been listening to your feedback. We know our comments system makes it too difficult for readers to share their opinions. You want your comments to appear quicker and you want transparency over the moderation process. Today we are rolling out a new commenting system that will transform the way our readers interact with our articles journalists and with each other

And we know that many people come back to our site day after day to see what our readers are saying.

Last week we ran a hugely successful reader comments Q&A with the inimitable Peter Hitchens – and we even have a brilliant new podcast dedicated to our reader comments: Straight To The Comments.

However, we’ve also been listening to your feedback. We know our comments system makes it too difficult for readers to share their opinions. You want your comments to appear quicker and you want transparency over the moderation process.

With that in mind, we’ve spent a long time working with our partners at OpenWeb to improve our system.

The new platform has been tested on our some of our channels for much of the past year – and we’re delighted to roll it out to the entire website today.

The new OpenWeb system will allow us to get more of your comments published, and much quicker.

You will get an email when your comment is published and when your comment receives up or down votes. We’ll also notify you when someone replies.

We appreciate this is a big change to one of the most popular areas of the website, and that – as always – you will have big opinions to share.

We welcome any feedback you may have and ask that you please submit any thoughts via this feedback form

In the meantime, happy commenting! We’re sure that you’ll love this new, improved experience.
