However, subscription fees for any service can quickly add up, which is why some users have found a way to save money.
In a new Reddit post, one user shared that by canceling their accounts, companies will offer them one to two free months of service to reconsider.
“Canceling recurring payments for Microsoft Office’s monthly subscription results in free month promotions,” one user said.
“It will potentially save you a decent amount of money,” the Reddit user explained.
They added that this is very typical for other technology subscription platforms like Adobe and Amazon Prime.
“I subscribed for a single month and canceled the recurring payment but then they offered me 2 free months to re-enable it,” the user commented.

“I canceled it again and then they offered me another free month to re-enable it,” they added.
“I then canceled it for a third and final time and my membership now doesn’t expire until June.”

The Reddit thread received thousands of upticks, with many users sharing similar experiences.
“Prime does similar. I feel about 2 months after every time I end my subscription I get the 0.99 for 1-2week offer,” another person shared.
“Then I just use Alexa to remind me Subscription a day or so before it ends,” they added.
While the strategy might seem unorthodox, companies are well aware of the technique.
The truth is, most of them are okay with giving out free trials because they know it’s better to attract customers who are already interested in their product or service, per AIContenfy.
By doing so, they don’t need to spend as much on advertising or marketing, so the benefits outweigh the costs.
Of course, it’s important to note that not all companies will offer these free trials.
