TECH company Samsung has snubbed Apple fans by making its new gadget only compatible with Android devices.

The Korean electronics giant is set to release the Galaxy Ring later this year.

As well as being compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices, the Ring will also be able to be paired with Android products from Google.

But, it won’t be compatible with Apple products like the iPhone.

The Galaxy Ring is a “more comfortable” health tracking device that people could wear during their sleep.

Hon Pak, Samsung’s vice president and head of the digital health team, said Samsung Health has around 64million monthly active users.

“We ultimately hope that our devices are of such caliber that people will be willing to switch,” Pak said.

The first clear images of the ring have also just been released after fans were given a teaser in February.

The ring looks like a man’s wedding ring with a metallic outside and a black inside of the ring.

Colours are limited to gold, silver and and ceramic black.

Samsung has not divulged what the price will be.

The inside is where the sensors are which monitor your body’s health, with activities such as sleep tracking.

There are currently nine sizes of the ring which each size having a different battery.

Pak said that consumers want choice: “I want the ability to have other forms of wearables to measure health.

“And some want to wear the watch, some want to wear the watch and the ring and get benefit from both. Some just want more simplicity.”

July is reportedly set to look like the launch date, reports TechRadar.

But Samsung may have some tough competition on the horizon from its biggest rival.

Recent reports claim that Apple is working on its own smart ring device.

The US-based company has filed for a patent for “a wearable electronic ring” back in 2019, and little has been known about it since.

But a new report by the Korean media outlet ET news suggests that Apple might be developing the ring for release in the near future.

The Sun has approached Samsung for comment.
